Where do
we depart from?

We depart from the marina of Puerto Aventuras and we cross the magnificent Caribbean sea towards the south of the island of Cozumel. You will watch as the ocean gets magically even lighter.

Our first stop will be along the Mesoamerican reef, where we will snorkel in Cozumel  for about an hour.

Our next stop is Palancar Beach here, we drop the anchor in one of the most amazing places you’ve ever seen. This is our beach stop in Cozumel.

There you can snorkel, swim or just relax in its crystal clear waters full of colorful fish.

We will grill up lunch for you aboard your private yacht or catamaran

Our crew will serve you fresh fish & shrimp ceviche, guacamole and cheeseburgers. Enjoy them with a cold drink delivered right to your hands!

At this point you can choose to just relax and hangout, or we can take a sailing trip around the island time permitting.

We’ll slowly return to Puerto Aventuras after that, so you can enjoy the bright colors of the Riviera Maya sunset.

Go Sailing from Tulum

Sailing from Tulum

Sailing from Tulum in the Riviera Maya

You are staying in Tulum and want to go yachting or sailing but not sure where you need to depart from?

The nearest marina to you is Puerto Aventuras. It is approximately 35-55 min south, depending on how far into the hotel zone you are staying.

We have the best selection of boats for your group.

All of our tours offer pickup, the price will vary depending on the size of your group, your location, and the boat you select.

A good rule of thumb is anywhere from $150 – $220 (per van) round trip for your group up to 12 people.

We specialize in wedding groups, bachelorette and bachelor parties. As well, we have many birthday and family groups.

We greet you onsite with a special hello and make sure every part of your journey is special!

PICKING UP CLIENTS BY BOAT

Many people ask us to pick them up or drop them off in Tulum by boat. The catamarans and yachts based out of Puerto Aventuras for charter do not offer this service, for a couple of reasons.

The first one is that sailing to Tulum and back is an 6 hour service apart from the regular sailing and snorkel, versus a 35 -55 min land transfer.

The second reason is that there is no dock we can pickup or drop off from along the way.

We totally wish we could, but we are happy to provide the most amazing options we can here in Puerto Aventuras!

We love extras and goodies. So, please let us know if there is a special event for your group. Or if you have special needs such as shade for small children or older folks.

You can also ask about upgrading to our VIP options.

Come sailing with us, we would love to have you aboard!

Wear Reef-Safe Sunscreen And Protect Our Oceans

reef-safe-sunscreen-riviera-maya-catamarans
Cozumel Catamaran Rental Snorkeling in the water

Why Do You Need To Wear Reef-Safe Sunscreen In The Riviera Maya?

Our ocean ecosystem here in the Mexican Caribbean is fragile and beautiful.  At Riviera Maya Catamarans we have the privilege of sharing some great snorkeling and sea life with our amazing clients.  We ask all our clients to use no sunscreen prior to snorkeling and if not possible that you use only reef-safe sunscreen.

Why is this important? Because both have been linked to coral bleaching.

When you snorkel or swim,  you wash away all the sunscreen you’ve applied to your skin. If such sunscreen is from the regular type, it will leave a trail of chemicals across the water. Those substances hurt the creatures living there and it bleaches the coral beds, killing it, and ensuring that our marine life loses food, shelter and safety.

Many states in the United States such as Hawaii have banned sunscreens that are not safe for the environment many places prevent the sale of sunscreen containing common UV-filtering ingredients, such as oxybenzone and octinoxate.

Snorkeling in Coral reefs and with Sealife

snorkeling with turtles during a private catamaran charter in riviera maya, mexico

Each year, the ocean receives between 6000 and 14000 tons of sunscreen, destroying sea life.

Coral reefs are very important for many reasons beyond economics.

They provide shelter for organisms of all sizes.

Reefs are a source of nitrogen and other essential nutrients for marine life. Coral fixes such substances and contributes to nutrient recycling.

They protect coastlines from the actions of tropical storms and strong waves.

Their importance goes way beyond this list. Coral reefs help to recycle and purifying water and air. If this is not enough, these amazing groups of organisms create soil and break down pollutants, while preserving species diversity.

Where can I find Sunscreen like this?

Locally at any Chedraui Super Market

Thru Amazon before you arrive

Please avoid these ingredients
in your sunscreen

  1. Oxybenzone
  2. Octinoxate
  3. Octocrylene
  4. PABA (Aminobenzoic Acid)
  5. Enzacamene
  6. Octisalate
  7. Homosalate
  8. Avobenzone

What about Zinc Oxide?

Zinc oxide non nano offers a wide-spectrum protection against UV rays. Pay attention to NANO and NON-NANO. Nanoparticles are microscopic. Sea life and reefs easily absorb them and that’s where the damage starts.

You don’t have to get rid of all your products. Use your remaining regular sunscreen while on the pool or when you’re going out for a hike. Next time you’ll buy sunscreen, you’ll be able to make the right choice
